with Jeana at Friend From Work
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and doing it online adds a few extra questions. Here's what you may want to know before we begin.
Telehealth therapy means we meet over a secure video platform instead of in person. You can join from your home, car, or any private space where you feel comfortable.
Does telehealth really work?
Yes. Studies show that online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions for many issues, including anxiety, obsessive thinking, trauma, and relationship challenges.
Just a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet, private space where you can talk freely.
You cannot be driving while me meet and you need to be in a private space, no children or other people can be in the same room as you. To limit distractions, it is best to put your device on Do Not Disturb, incoming calls and messages will generally mute the client's device. It also works best if your device is set up on a stable surface, rather than trying to hold your device in your hand for the duration of your session.
Absolutely. I use a HIPAA-compliant platform that protects your confidentiality and meets all privacy standards for mental health care.
Yes. I accept insurance in Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Florida. I also welcome private-pay clients. You're welcome to request a superbill if your plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits.
To work together, you’ll need to be physically located in Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, or Florida at the time of your session due to licensing laws.
It’s a chance to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what you’re looking for in therapy, and I’ll answer any questions you have. You don’t need to prepare anything, just come as you are.
The first session I will take the lead by asking a series of questions
Our first session will be scheduled for 1 hour, follow up sessions are usually 45 minutes long. Most clients start weekly and adjust as we go based on your goals and needs.
If we lose connection, I’ll reach out right away by phone or email. We can usually reconnect quickly or switch to phone if needed.
Yes, as long as you're in a private, quiet space and still located within a state I’m licensed in. Just let me know ahead of time if you'll be somewhere new.
For most people, yes. If I ever think in-person care would be a better option, I’ll be honest about that and help you explore next steps.
You can book or reschedule through the client portal, or reach out by email.
You’ll receive a secure video link before each session, Google Chrome is the preferred browser.
How do I pay for therapy?
You can use a credit card stored securely in the client portal. If we’re using insurance, I’ll handle the billing and let you know if there’s a copay.
Yes, we can talk about bringing someone into your therapy if it supports your goals. This can be especially helpful in sessions focused on relational dynamics or boundary work.
